Bengaluru tops ‘ease of living’ index among Indian cities

Often dubbed as India’s ‘Silicon Valley’ or the hub for high-tech industries in India, Bengaluru has emerged among the top performing cities in terms of ease of living for its more than 1 million residents. Shimla stands at number one in the rankings of ease of living index among less than 1 million population.

Bengaluru is also famous for its gardens, parks and nightlife. The city is followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Indore and Greater Mumbai as per the Ease of Living Index 2020. As an assessment tool, Ease of Index evaluates the quality of life and various facilities for urban development. 

In the less than one million category, Shimla is followed by Bhubaneswar, Silvassa, Kakinada, Salem, Vellore, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Davangere, and Tiruchirappalli.
