India’s longest tunnel ‘Zojila’ is powered by Kashmiris

The work on India’s longest Zojila Tunnel (13 km), aimed at providing all-weather connectivity between Ladakh and the rest of the country, is receiving major assistance from the expertise of local Kashmiris.

Out of a total of 1000 men, 900 who are working on the 13-km long tunnel are from Kashmir. The Hyderabad company, Mega Engineering and Industries Limited (MEIL), that is executing the project has said that the experience in tunnelling by local labourers and engineers is helping them achieve their target ahead of schedule.
