Karnataka state govt plans to include Bhagavad Gita in school curriculum

Amid the Karnataka High Court’s hijab verdict when the jury pronounced that hijab is not ‘an essential part’ of the Islamic faith, a contradictory decision by the state government is appalling activists and scholars alike.

BC Nagesh, Karnataka’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister made a remark about including religion studies in the state’s schools starting with the Bhagvad Gita.

BC Nagesh said that the Bhagavad Gita has been read by people across the country for many years and irrespective of beliefs, the Gita is read by everyone and has been translated into all languages across the world.

All the above are reasons enough to include it in the state school curriculum, alongside utilizing it “to improve the morale of students,” said the education minister.
